Course Description

High turnover can be costly for companies. Investopedia reports the high cost of employee turnover can reach up to three times the employee's salary. Another study illustrated the negative impact of turnover on employee morale, productivity, and company culture. High levels of employee engagement and inclusion, however, can foster customer loyalty and improve organizational performance and stakeholder value, according to Gartner Research.

This presentation will cover why employees leave and the reasons for employee resignations. We will explore the importance of an organization's focus on employee development and improving employee engagement in a coaching culture. Employees are more engaged when their immediate manager uses a coaching or mentoring style. As positive leaders and role models, managers with high employee retention rates increase their "social capital" and reputation. When a manager uses coaching, they engage employees with a performance-based approach. Attendees will learn the difference between coaching and mentoring and how to use each effectively.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify high costs of employee resignations and turnover

  • Differentiate between intrinsic and extrinsic motivators

  • Define employee engagement

  • Evaluate a manager's role

  • Determine the importance of employee development
