Course Description

The 2017 Tax Act changed the emphasis from saving estate taxes to saving income taxes.  This webinar will focus on saving state income taxes which is very often neglected by planners.  Very often, planners avoid this planning simply because of a fear that the rules are too difficult to master.  However, that is simply not the case.  Each state has its own taxing statutes.  The sophisticated planner can carefully navigate these statutes to save income taxes for their clients.

In this webinar, you will learn:

  • What factors states use to tax non-grantor trusts

  • Planning opportunities for existing non-grantor trusts

  • Ways to modify a trust to save state income taxes

  • Planning opportunities for existing grantor trusts

  • Planning opportunities with the client’s assets

  • Planning opportunities for future inheritances

  • Some prominent examples of different taxing states

  • How to quickly access the state taxing statutes and summaries
