Course Description

The accounting talent shortage marches on, adding new dimensions of complexity to a profession that prides itself on making the complex more straightforward. Could AI play a role in facing it head-on?

In this insightful session, you’ll explore the pressing issue of the accounting pipeline challenge — a multifaceted problem affecting the influx of new talent into the accounting profession. Beginning with an overview of the current state of the accounting pipeline, we’ll highlight trends in academic enrollment, demographic changes, and the integration of advanced technologies. As the session progresses, we will investigate the broader implications of these challenges, examining how they impact firms, the workforce, and the overall industry landscape.

The latter part of the session will pivot to strategic solutions, focusing particularly on the transformative potential of AI. This session aims to equip professionals with knowledge about best practices and AI tools that can address shortages, enhance skill sets, and ensure the profession remains robust and adaptive in an era of rapid technological change.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the current challenges in the accounting talent pipeline

  • Determine the economic and operational impacts of these challenges

  • Identify strategies and review AI technologies that can engage young (and young at heart) accounting professionals, and revitalize accounting education and practice
